Assisting Our Veterans

About Our
Organization

In Their Shoes, Inc. is dedicated to working with communities seeking to support children suffering with life-threatening illnesses and providing assistance to homeless veterans by exhibiting an appreciation for their sacrifice to their country through purposeful, tangible actions that will improve their standard of living.

Joseph Washington is a U.S. Combat Army veteran who is running a mile in every one of the 50 states to bring awareness to the plight of homeless veterans. He started his journey on a Tuesday, Aug. 29, in Anchorage, and plans to have all his miles done in all 50 states in a year.  Joseph also has a film crew shooting a documentary about his journey to bring awareness to the mental and physical challenges facing veterans who are homeless. He hopes to raise $50,000 along the way. So, 50 miles, 50 states, and $50,000. The journey has begun. About Our Founder

Joseph Washington

Houstonian and U.S. Army veteran, Joseph Washington is the founder of Mother Bell Universal Entertainment, LLC (MBUE).  Washington uses his skills and artistry as a means for serving his community.  His first single, “In Their Shoes,” promoted awareness of homelessness.  Proceeds helped clothe and feed homeless and needy families in the Houston area, birthing the non-profit, “In Their Shoes” Foundation (ITS).  Several original songs coupled with community projects followed, promoting awareness of childhood diabetes, childhood cancer, and appreciation for veteran’s service.

Joseph Washington’s latest project is The “50 miles in 50 States” campaign aimed at spotlighting the problem of veteran homelessness while providing much needed mental and physical healthcare services for the nations most deserving citizens.

This time the cause is being expanded outside of Joseph’s immediate community to include the entire nation.  Mr. Washington will be running I mile in each of the 50 states plus The District of Columbia.  His intention is to raise funds for homeless veterans then pass the baton to state and local organizations who will expand the cause through service projects and fundraising events.  Mr. Washington’s goal is to spark a movement that will catch fire across the nation that will ultimately eradicate veteran homelessness.
